On Monday, June 12, 2017 a packed Bravo Room at the Hobart Arena hosted a presentation by MKSK Studios on the analysis and recommendations they’ve drafted on the future of Troy’s iconic downtown riverfront corridor. Over a hundred participants listened as Joe Nickol of MKSK presented his team’s: research, survey, and focus group results; market analysis of future trends and demographics; proposed vision, mission, and objectives; and, recommended project list that would completely transform the area of Troy between Treasure Island and East Main Street along the riverfront corridor over the next 10 years or more. Participants were asked to react to MKSK’s recommendations, which include activating new public gathering spaces, outdoor recreational areas and extensions of the bike pathways into and through downtown, as well as creating new condo and apartment living spaces connected to the downtown over the Great Miami River. Other recommendations were also discussed, which could have a lasting impact on residential, workforce, and tourism attraction in Troy.
