Residents in the area of Kyle School in
Troy will be affected by a water main repair on Monday,
August 18, 2008. The repair is to replace a broken valve
serving Kyle School, and will require depressurizing the
water supply to the area listed below. As a precaution
of possible bacterial contamination following
depressurization, we are advising all consumers in the
area to boil water for at least one minute prior to use
for drinking, cooking, or oral hygiene (this would
include water for ice). The affected area includes:
Grant Street from Plum Street to West Market Street,
Plum Street from Drury Lane to Grant Street, West
Simpson Street from South Market to Plum Street, Terrace
Place from South Market Street to Plum Street, and
Cherry Street from Simpson Street to Terrace Place.
If water is discolored, flush the faucet
for 1-15 minutes. Some air may also be present in the
lines. Water samples will be analyzed following this
repair to determine if any contamination is present.
This advisory should be followed until residents have
been advised otherwise. Please keep in mind that
although boil advisories can be inconvenient, they are a
safeguard for you. The majority of boil advisories
issued by the City of Troy are lifted within 30-48
hours. The testing program required by the Ohio EPA will
be completed in a timely manner, and an "All Clear"
notice will be delivered to your home when the advisory
is lifted. For further information call the City of
Troy Utilities Department at 335-1914. If you are
calling after 3:00 p.m., please call the City of Troy
Water Treatment Plant at 339-4826. This advisory is
issued in accordance with OAC rule 3745-81-32 (B).
