Geographic Information Systems / Maps

Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

A geographic information system (GIS) is a resource for mapping and analyzing the spatial features of locations.  The GIS stores this spatial data in layers and links to databases. Viewed together with additional GIS layers, it can provide a comprehensive overview of an area.  GIS is a valuable tool for viewing, understanding, and interpreting data to show relationships, patterns, and trends to assist in explaining events, predicting outcomes, and planning strategies.
