The City of Troy announces that a third brining vehicle for winter roadway pre-treatment has been added to expand brining operations during the 2016-2017 winter season. The City has re-purposed an older vehicle and added a 4,000 gallon brine tank. Having a third brining vehicle will allow City crews to perform more roadway pre-treatment and reach all areas of the City ahead of projected storms. This will provide for a more efficient and cost effective operation. Frequently, brining the roadways ahead of a winter storm eliminates or reduces the need for plowing and salting after a storm.
In making this announcement, Mayor Michael Beamish commented: “"The City of Troy is proud to continue to improve winter services to our residents in the most cost effective way possible. Our crews are to be commended for continuing to find ways to keep the roads in Troy as clear of ice and snow as possible during winter events."
