Shortly after 10:00 pm on June 26, Troy Fire and Police Departments were dispatched to a structure fire on W. Market Street. While firefighters were able to quickly get the fire contained, raw materials including plastics and fuel additives made the fire difficult to continue fighting without mutual aid. A special thank you to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Fire Department for the supplemental foam needed as well as the Pleasant Hill, Ludlow Falls, and Tipp City Fire Departments in addition to the American Red Cross. The support from these departments was integral in keeping the fire from spreading and making sure the nearly 50 first responders on scene stayed safe. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating, and the Environmental Protection Agency will continue to monitor the situation. Fortunately no chemicals were found to have entered catch basins or the City’s stormwater system. We would like to reiterate our thanks to everyone who played a role in assisting the City in last night’s fire.
