The Troy Fire Department has been awarded a FEMA grant of $231,366 toward the cost of new SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus). The City plans to add $42,000 to the grant money, for a total amount of $273,000.
That funding will cover 36 new air packs, 42 face pieces, 76 bottles, and four Rapid Intervention Team (RIT packs) – the equipment that firefighters use to stay safe from fumes and smoke while battling fires. Under the terms of the grant, this equipment will be purchased by early 2021.
FEMA's Assistance to Firefighters Grant provides federal funding for equipment and protective gear for emergency personnel. Troy was previously awarded a grant from the same program in 2016. For more information, contact the Troy Fire at 937-335-5678 or visit www.troyohio.gov/151/fire.
