Troy Fire, along with all Miami County fire departments and the Miami County Dispatch Center, will be implementing a new numbering system to eliminate redundant numbering within the county.
All departments in the County will be moving to two-digit identifiers. Troy has been designated the series of numbers beginning in 1. Station 1 will now be identified as Station 11, Station 2 will become Station 12, and Station 3 will become Station 13. Major apparatus will also be renumbered. Medic 1 will become Medic 11, Engine 2 will become Engine 12, and so on.
The renumbering follows recommendations from a review of the dispatch center performed by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials. These changes will help promote clear communication in situations involving multiple jurisdictions. In effect, there will no longer be multiple Miami County stations named “Station 1” or “Station 2.”
