The Christmas break is over, and work is again back to full operations. The weather is cooperating, and normal construction will proceed as long as temperatures are above 20 degrees.
The project is on schedule. Approximately 30% of the total project has been finished. There are no major issues affecting progress.
A difficult aspect of the work is about to begin. The operations to build new: sidewalks, curbs, gutters, lighting, and traffic signals, will begin in the downtown section between Adams Street and Cherry Street (north side of West Main Street). There will be an increase in equipment, materials, noise, orange barrels and workers in this downtown area. The first step will be to remove the existing sidewalks, curbs, and sections of pavement. The work will be just like what has been recently accomplished between Ridge Avenue and Adams Street. All efforts will be made to safely keep sidewalks, parking, and roadways open. However, there will be times when areas must be closed to safeguard the public. Closures, delays, and inconveniences will be kept to a minimum.
