Things are starting to look a lot different now!!!!!
This week, crews milled existing asphalt and placed new intermediate asphalt on West Main between Monroe and Plum Streets. Thanks to all who were patient with the closure of West Main in that area as well as the closures of the intersections. The closure allowed the paving contractor to bring in three pavers to work in the curb bump-out areas and main traffic line simultaneously.
Next week, crews will continue adjusting new and existing manholes, water and gas valves in various sections of W. Main Street. In addition to this process, they will be striping a new traffic pattern between Cedar Street and Monroe Street to allow the work to begin on the center island in front of Kettering North Hospital.
While this island is being constructed, motorists will drive in the curb lanes in each direction. Final surface-course asphalt will be placed when all work is completed so that motorists can enjoy the new and improved rideability of W. Main Street.
Some new light poles have arrived! Electric crews will install and wire them to the new lighting control centers. Installation should occur in the next few weeks.
As soon as power is available to the Elm Street traffic signals, electric crews will activate the new signals and crosswalks. Please use caution with new signals, as they may operate a bit differently than the old signals.
As always, we thank you for your patience and understanding!
