Residents of Southeast Troy will soon have an opportunity to help their neighborhood secure a Neighborhood Revitalization Grant by providing confidential income information.
City staff will visit households in Southeast Troy in the coming weeks to conduct a brief income survey. This survey information is needed as part of an effort to secure a Neighborhood Revitalization Grant to provide residents of Southeast Troy direct connections to the recreational trail and will provide a direct connection to Herrlinger Park. This trail would tie in the southeast side, which is included in the survey area.

FAQs:
Why is the City surveying residents?
The City Development Department needs income information for state Community Development Block (CDBG) Grants. CDBG grants made several projects in Troy possible in the past:
- Herrlinger Park improvements
- Troy Senior Center HVAC improvements and the new patio/ramp in the front
- Rec Center facade repair
- ADA sidewalks throughout some parts of the City, most recently on the southeast side
- Franklin House Family Abuse Shelter roof repair
- Sewer facility improvements at the Madison Street Lift Station
This survey will be used for grant applications for the next five years. The City hopes to apply for CDBG funds for a proposed recreational trail connection and improvements to Herrlinger Park, among other potential projects.
What questions will I need to answer?
The survey consists of two questions. One asks how many people live in your household. The other asks you to select your household income range from a list of ranges.
Who will see my survey answers?
Only development staff and state agency personnel will review and aggregate the survey responses. This survey is confidential.
Doesn’t the City have my income data already? I pay taxes here!
Income tax data is protected by a range of privacy laws. The City cannot share income tax information between departments, and cannot use income tax data for any purposes beyond income tax collection.
How do I participate if I’m not at home when City staff knock doors for the survey?
Please contact Jacqueline Tyler at 937-339-9601 if you would like to participate by phone. Staff will attempt in-person collection and leave door hangers at households where no one is available. The addresses were randomly selected to be surveyed in accordance with the program requirements.
