[ARCHIVED] Public Notice: Boil Precautionary Notice

NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF TROY, OHIO
PUBLIC NOTICE: BOIL PRECAUTIONARY NOTICE

All water consumers in Troy’s Low Pressure Service Area, which is Ridge Avenue, and the area East of Ridge Avenue and South of the Great Miami River, were affected by temporary loss of water on the morning of May 21, 2014, due to an operational error. Water pressure was returned within 10 minutes.

The City is advising consumers only in the above described area to boil water for at least one minute prior to use for drinking, cooking, or oral hygiene (this would include water for ice) as a precaution against possible bacterial contamination following depressurization of the lines.
This boil notice is effective immediately (May 21, 2014) and should continue for at least the next 30-48 hours, or until there is information otherwise.

If water is discolored, flush the faucet for 1-15 minutes. Some air may also be present in the lines. Water samples will be analyzed following this depressurization to determine if any contamination is present.

This advisory should be followed until residents have been advised otherwise. Please keep in mind that although boil advisories can be inconvenient, they are a safeguard for you. An "All Clear" notice will be issued when the advisory is lifted.

For further information call the City of Troy Utilities Department at 335-1914 or the Engineering Office at 339-2641.

This advisory is issued in accordance with OAC rule 3745-81-32 (B).
