The City of Troy is proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity of Miami and Shelby Counties for their upcoming Rock the Block volunteer event. This five-day impact event will match volunteers and supporters with qualified Troy homeowners to complete critical exterior home repair projects from May 5 through 9, 2025.

For the upcoming event, City Development staff and Habitat for Humanity identified ten properties whose homeowners have agreed to make repairs. Rock the Block volunteers will perform repair and maintenance work under the guidance of Habitat Construction Managers and skilled trade partners.

“Rock the Block is an initiative of Habitat for Humanity International, and as an affiliate, we are excited to bring it into our service area," said Scott Barr, Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity of Miami and Shelby Counties. "We look forward to making this an annual event in both counties we serve."

Troy Planning and Zoning Manager Austin Eidemiller said, “With the help of dedicated volunteers and generous business partners, essential repairs and exterior maintenance will be completed to bring these homes up to code and enhance the appearance of the neighborhood. We’re proud to partner residents with skilled support through Habitat, all while strengthening community ties and fostering pride in our neighborhoods.”

Other support for Rock the Block comes from the Troy Area Chamber of Commerce, the Troy Foundation, the MLK Planning Committee, Troy Community Works, and the Western Ohio Home Builders Association. The City of Troy will also provide generators, bathrooms, trash hauling, and volunteers during the week of the event.

Individuals wishing to support Rock the Block by volunteering can contact Habitat for Humanity's Volunteer Coordinator, Maureen O’Keefe, at 937-332-3763.
