In an exciting step toward inclusive play at Duke Park, the City of Troy’s Board of Park Commissioners are celebrating two generous grant awards from The Troy Foundation and Upper Valley Medical Center.
These grants will fully fund new specialized playground turf to be installed this spring. The new surface complements the City’s recent $250,000 investment in ADA-accessible playground equipment and the addition of sidewalks. These improvements represent a major milestone in creating a park that truly welcomes everyone.
A variety of adaptive swings, interactive activity panels, and now the specialized grant-funded turf will create a fully accessible playground at Troy's largest recreational park.
Park Superintendent Jeremy Drake said, "Diverse play opportunities for children of all abilities are fundamental to our community's health and wellness. The City’s investment in state-of-the-art ADA-accessible playground equipment, combined with this specialized surfacing, will dramatically improve the overall experience at Duke Park and create a space where all Troy and Miami County families and visitors can enjoy recreational experiences together."
