On September 6, 2017 Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced that the Troy Police Department was one of 40 law enforcement departments that will receive a grant to replicate or expand partnership programs that address the opioid epidemic. The grant will reimburse the City for salary and benefit expenses for the City’s Quick Response Team (QRT) from October 1, 2017 to June 30, 2019.
The QRT consists of an addiction specialist, firefighter/paramedic, and police officer. The team follows up with residents who have overdosed in order to offer services to begin the process of becoming addiction free. Troy’s QRT began operation in October 2016.
