Property Maintenance

Enforcement of the Property Maintenance Code establishes the minimum requirements and standards for the protection of the public’s health, safety, and welfare. These regulations are administered to all existing structures, residential and nonresidential, and on all existing premises. The City has adopted the International Property Maintenance Code to set minimum property standards. Non-compliance of the Property Maintenance Code may result in penalties imposed by the courts.

The City’s property maintenance codes were created to promote the health, safety, and well-being of residents and neighborhoods through encouraging adherence to the City codes. Compliance protects property values and neighborhoods against deteriorating influences. The City’s property maintenance personnel regularly identify code issues and respond to complaints regarding potential violations.

The City has developed a property maintenance checklist to assist in evaluating the exterior condition of your property. See the checklist here.
